Oregon Rex

The Oregon Rex was one of several breeds of domestic cat with the rex mutation, which in the mid-20th-century occurred from spontaneous genetic mutation. After its acknowledgment as a separate breed, it enjoyed a short time of popularity among cat breeders in the United States. By now, due to crossbreeding with other Rex types, this breed seems to have merged with the other more popular Rex breeds like Devon Rex or Cornish Rex.

Oriental Shorthair

The Oriental Shorthair is a breed of domestic cat that is closely related to the Siamese. It maintains the modern Siamese head and body type but appears in a wide range of coat colors and patterns. Like the Siamese, Orientals have almond-shaped eyes, a triangular head shape, large ears, and an elongated, slender, and muscular body. Their personalities are also very similar. Orientals are social, intelligent, and many are rather vocal. They often remain playful into adulthood, with many enjoying playing fetch. Despite their slender appearance, they are athletic and can leap into high places. They prefer to live in pairs or groups and also seek human interaction. Unlike the breed’s blue-eyed forebear, Orientals are usually green-eyed. The Oriental Longhair differs only with respect to coat length.

Persian

The Persian is a long-haired breed of cat characterized by its round face and shortened muzzle. Its name refers to Persia, the former name of Iran, where similar cats are found.Recognized by the cat fancy since the late 19th century, it was developed first by the English, and then mainly by American breeders after the Second World War. In Britain, it is called the Longhair or Persian Longhair. The selective breeding carried out by breeders has allowed the development of a wide variety of coat colors, but has also led to the creation of increasingly flat-faced Persians. Favored by fanciers, this head structure can bring with it a number of health problems. As is the case with the Siamese breed, there have been efforts by some breeders to preserve the older type of cat, the traditional breed, having a more pronounced muzzle, which is more popular with the general public. Hereditary polycystic kidney disease is prevalent in the breed, affecting almost half the population in some countries.

Peterbald

The Peterbald is a cat breed of Russian origin. Peterbalds have an elegantly slim graceful and muscular build. They have a narrow and long head with a straight profile, almond-shaped eyes, wedge-shaped muzzle, and big set-apart ears. They have a long whip-like tail, webbed feet and oval paws that allow them to grasp objects and open levered doorknobs. They are somewhat similar in appearance to Oriental Shorthair cats.

Pixie-bob

The Pixie-bob is a breed of domestic cat claimed by breed founder Carol Ann Brewer of Washington state to be the Offspring of naturally occurring bobcat Hybrid (biology). DNA testing have failed to detect bobcat marker genes and Pixie-bobs are considered wholly domestic for the purposes of ownership, cat fancy registration, import and export.

Ragamuffin

The Ragamuffin (often spelled RagaMuffin) is a breed of domestic cat, a variant of the Ragdoll, that first made its appearance in 1994. Ragamuffins are notable for their friendly personalities and thick, rabbitlike fur.

Ragdoll

The Ragdoll is a cat breed with blue eyes and a distinct point (coat color) coat. It is a large and muscular semi-longhair cat with a soft and silky coat. Developed by United States breeder Ann Baker, it is best known for its docile and placid temperament and affectionate nature. The name “Ragdoll” is derived from the tendency of individuals from the original breeding stock to go limp and relaxed when picked up.

Russian Blue

The Russian Blue is a cat breed that has a silver-blue coat. They are very intelligent and playful, but tend to be shy around strangers. They develop close bonds with their human companions and are sought out as pets due to their personalities and coat. Some Russian Blues have a small puff of fur above both of their eyes that slant slightly down to give the appearance that Russian Blues look grouchy.

Scottish Fold

The Scottish Fold is a breed of cat with a natural dominant-gene mutation that makes its ear cartilage contain a fold, causing the ears to bend forward and down towards the front of their head, which gives the cat what is often described as an “owl-like” appearance. Originally called lop-eared or lops after the lop-eared rabbit, Scottish Fold became the breed’s name in 1966.

Selkirk Rex

The Selkirk Rex is a breed of cat with highly curled hair. The Selkirk Rex is distinct from all other Rex breeds. Unlike the Devon Rex and Cornish Rex, the hair is of normal length and not partly missing. There are longhair and shorthair varieties. It differs from the LaPerm in that the Selkirk Rex coat is plusher and thicker.

Siamese

The Siamese (Thai: วิเชียรมาศ,  [wí.tɕʰīan.mâːt], RTGS: Wichianmat, meaning “moon diamond”)  is one of the first distinctly recognized breeds of Oriental cat. One of several breeds native to Thailand (formerly known as Siam), in the 20th century the Siamese cat became one of the most popular breeds in Europe and North America. The modern Siamese is characterized by blue almond-shaped eyes, a triangular head shape, large ears, an elongated, slender, and muscular body, and point coloration. TICA describes the breed as social, intelligent, and playful into adulthood, often enjoying a game of fetch. Siamese prefer to live in pairs or groups and also seek human interaction. Their Meezer nickname refers to their vocal nature. The Oriental cat was developed in order to expand the range of coat patterns, while the Thai preserves a moderate head and body type.
